There are several factors to consider when choosing your air gun rifle. If you like hunting, an air rifle will be of better use to you than an air pistol. If you are not serious about hunting/pest control, a basic air pistol will do you for plinking.

If you want an air rifle for plinking you should choose something with a low to medium velocity as a high powerd hunting rifle will cause a vibration and recoil, which is more suited to a free hand style of shooting. With plinking you’ll be most likely shooting of sand bags or while on the move, so a low to medium powered rifle will provide more versatility.

For the more seasoned entusiast there’s a wide range of air rifle guns and air pistols with innovative hi-tec features such as scopes, multi-shot repeaters and silencers. Look at anything from Beeman, Crossman or Double Eagle.

If you like airsoft wars you’ll want something with at least 200FPS. You can get really cool ready to play packages with most of the guns aimed at the airsoft market. If you hoke around for a good deal you can get up to 4000bb, and a speed loader for under $80.

If you want an air rifle gun for paper target shooting  a low powered CO₂  or pump rifle will suffice.  CO₂ guns have a disposable cylinder, pre-filled with 12 grams of liquefied carbon dioxide.
