Wal Mart Airsoft Gun Purchases

March 14th, 2011

Sharon Price asked:

Many people buy from Wal-Mart groceries and other household items as well as equipment from the sporting goods section. Wal-Mart also carries airsoft guns at reasonable prices and they will hold up to a lot of use. These are guns that normally cost under thirty dollars and are used by people just coming out of the beginning stage of spring loaded guns. The typical Wal mart Airsoft gun is electric and uses four AA batteries. The guns are usually clear and may hold from fifty to one hundred rounds of BBs. A Wal mart Airsoft gun will normally shoot the BBs at one hundred fifty feet per second and maybe as much as one hundred seventy five feet.

Because these guns have a short effective range, people need to be close in order for the gun to be effective. Because of this, a Wal mart Airsoft gun would probably be better used in an interior room made for this purpose. Using them outside just isn’t practical for most people and it can become boring quickly. There is nothing wrong with the Wal mart Airsoft gun and they are fun to use, but there is a place for them because they are not a great overall Airsoft gun.

Wal Mart Airsoft Gun Choices

The selection of Wal mart airsoft guns depends on the store in any located Wal-Mart. All Wal-Mart stores won’t have the same exact inventory. If there is something that a person wants, they can ask the people in sporting goods to order a specific airsoft gun. If it is able to be ordered they will do it. A person must be over eighteen to purchase a Wal mart airsoft gun and have the proper ID. Wal-Mart also has a rule that no one can buy any real gun or airsoft gun over the phone or the internet. The person must come into the store to buy it and if it was ordered, they must physically come to the store to pick it up.

Lastly, a Wal mart airsoft gun is a good gun to get a person ready for the next category of high performance airsoft guns. Take the time to use one and use all of the safety equipment when using it. Learn with the Wal mart airsoft gun and the transition to the high performance guns will be seamless. Taking the time to be completely familiar with this style of airsoft gun will make people even better because they understand every type of airsoft gun that they might see and know all of the limitations.

Ruger 10/22 Rifle Stock and Barrel Mods

March 12th, 2011

dj fresno asked:

Whether a Ruger 10/22 was your first rifle or not, odds are there is more than enough room in your gun collection for a 10/22 rifle. A ruger 10 22 rifle is perfect for a beginning shooter as well as a seasoned distance shooter whether scoped, open sight or otherwise. The great part about the 10 22 rifle itself is the many mods and tweaks that can be done and very inexpensively. Here are a few common but “need to do to shoot better” mods that can take your out of the box 10/22 and turn it into a sharp shooting plinker.

10/22 Rifle Stock Mods

Currently there are well over 30 aftermarket and original stocks that you can use for your ruger 10/22 rifle. If you are looking to build up a tactical 1022 then there are plenty of aftermarket rifle stocks for you to choose from. There are also many rifle stocks for the 10/22 and it really depends on the setup that you are going after as well as the style in which you shoot.

10/22 Rifle Barrel Mods

Getting a new barrel for your ruger 10/22 will not only make your rifle look nice but it will shoot much more accurate. Most aftermarket barrels for the 10/22 are inexpensive but can be priced over a couple hundred dollars depending on the level of upgrading you are after.

There are the bull barrels and also the stock replacement upgraded barrels which you can choose from as well.

10/22 Rifle Magazine Mods

Depending on your country and state there is a mass amount of extended clips both metal and plastic to choose from. If you can legally own an extended magazine for your 10/22 then you can get banana and drum clips. Before adding any magazine or any modification to your 10/22 rifle make sure and check with your local and state laws so you don’t have any issues later on.

The above ruger 1022 mods are the main mods that can and should be done to your rifle to get it not only shooting true but on target non stop. A fully built 10/22 could cost a couple hundred on up to over a grand but no matter how you setup your rifle all that matters is that you are satisfied with the build and the mods.

Whether you are looking for cheap 10/22 stocks or a scope for your .22 don’t forget to check out http://www.donluttrull.com/ruger-rifle-10-22-stocks-barrels-and-accessories.php which you can locate in the author box at the bottom of this article as well. No matter which mods you make to the rifle you will be sure to love it and keep it for a very long time.

Air Rifle Scope - What Are Your Choices When It Comes to Equipping Your Air Gun?

March 10th, 2011

Benjamin Robert Ehinger asked:

Air rifle Scopes are all over the place and you can easily just pick one up at Wal mart or at your local gun shop, but there is much more to it than that if you want to get the right scope for your air gun. There are many choices when it comes to scopes that will work for air guns and you need to make sure you are getting a scope that will give you the value you deserve along with the accuracy you are after.

One thing to consider when purchasing an air rifle scope is what you are going to be using it for. Are you going to use an air pellet gun to hunt small game? Maybe you only need it for shooting targets. Either way you need to make sure you get a scope that will make you more accurate than ever before and give you the confidence you deserve when you are out shooting small game or targets.

The top brand of air rifle scopes is BSA when it comes to getting the value you deserve along with the accuracy you demand. It is amazing the things you can do when you have the right scope for your air gun and you will be able to impress all your buddies with the shots you can make, whether they are picking off a rabbit or hitting the bullseye over and over again.

You do need to make sure you do your research and get the right scope to fit your gun, your eye, and your shooting style. You do not want to purchase the wrong scope and find out that it will not fit onto your gun or will not work for you as well as you were hoping for. This is something you need to consider so make sure you take your time.

My Four Favorite Air Guns

March 6th, 2011

Peter Boston asked:

Recreational shooting was popular in Colonial America and it remains very popular today. One big difference between Colonial days and today is the density of the population. Most of us live in suburban or other highly populated areas that make going out in our own little Back 40 to do some firearm’s target practice both impractical and probably illegal.

Rifles and handguns are also expensive to buy and can be problematic to transport and store. For people who enjoy recreational shooting air guns are an inexpensive and practical solution. A single day at the range with a conventional hand gun can cost you more than $100 with fees and ammo costs. For the same amount of money you can outfit yourself with a good performing airgun rifle or pistol that you will have forever. Air gun ammo is also very cheap, less than one penny a round in most cases, but there are some exceptions which I will explain later.

Here’s a short description of my four favorite air guns and the reasons that I enjoy them. I could easily double or triple the list but the short list will give you a good overview of some of the types of air guns that are readily available.

The Crosman 2240 is a CO2 powered single shot, bolt action pistol. It takes.22 caliber pellets and shoots at a respectable 460 feet per second (fps) muzzle velocity. The barrel is 10 in. long and it is rifled which makes this an excellent target shooter out to 30 yd. or so. The 2240 is very popular and there is a big variety of aftermarket parts that allow you to customize this target pistol into a one-of.

The Crosman 1077 is a.177 caliber CO2 powered pellet rifle styled after a military carbine. This is a fine rifle to shoot because it pops off 12 rounds as quickly as you can pull the trigger. It does not make much noise either so you will not disturb your neighbors. This pellet rifle is very popular in Europe too and also has many after market parts for your own customization.

Probably the most fun of the bunch is the Gamo Viper.22 caliber shotgun and rifle combination. This CO2 powered rifle fires airgun shotgun shells at 750 fps in a grouping pattern similar to a conventional 12 gauge shotgun. If you have a few hundred yards of safety down range you can shoot skeet with empty soda cans. The shotgun rounds are a little pricey at about 30 cents each but you can reload your spent shells to save some money. You can also mount a scope and use it with.22 caliber pellet rounds for accurate target shooting out to 50 yds.

The Gamo Big Cat 1200 is a break barrel.177 caliber single shot rifle. To charge the gun with compressed air you fold it at the barrel, hence the name break barrel. This rifle has a muzzle velocity of 1200 fps with the right ammo and is too dangerous to shoot in a back yard range because the pellet would go right through a fence board. It comes with a 4×32 scope and when you take the time to zero the rifle it becomes an extremely accurate range target shooter.

Air guns can provide a satisfying shooting experience without the noise and at a fraction of the cost of conventional firearms. That does not mean that air guns should ever be treated as toys, however. They demand the same safe shooting environment and range safety procedures as any other ballistic weapon.

Sturm Ruger Firearms – General Info and History of Company

March 5th, 2011

Jason Rafeld asked:

Sturm Ruger Firearms – General Info and History of Company

Sturm, Ruger and Company started out on the American East Coast, in Southport, Connecticut in1949, in the rented garage machine shop of Bill Ruger. At the time, Ruger was a firearms enthusiast, and had already taken an interest in inventing and tinkering. It was in that very garage where Ruger successfully duplicated two “Baby Nambu” pistols, after he had previously acquired a captured Japanese Nambu from a friend who was a U.S. Marine returning from the Pacific Theater after WWII ended in 1945. General Kijiro Nambu was a prolific arms designer, who was sometimes called, “the John Browning of Japan”. Ruger successfully copied, and slightly varied, Nambu’s design for the rear cocking device, as well as somewhat of the overall look and feel of the Nambu pistol. The result was one of the most popular .22 semi-automatic pistols ever to enter the US firearms market in 1949; the Ruger Standard Mark I. Later iterations included the Mark II and the Mark III. To this day, the Ruger Mark III is in the holsters and gun safes of more firearms enthusiasts and gun collectors than any other .22 pistol in existence.

Ruger is also a huge player in the .22 rimfire rifle market, with their enormously popular Ruger 10/22 carbine and 10/22 rifle. This gun is owned by the vast majority of hunters and outdoorsmen, as well as gun enthusiasts. It is on more gun racks, and in more gun safes that any other .22 rifle. Its wide appeal is because it is relatively inexpensive, well made, accurate, and it has an incredibly wide range of aftermarket accessories available for it.

Ruger is the country’s fourth largest firearms producer, and the only one to make all types of firearms: rifles, pistols, shotguns and revolvers. Ruger produces bolt-action, semi-automatic, full-automatic, and single shot rifles, shotguns, semi-automatic pistols, and single-action and double-action revolvers of all sizes. It is safe to say that Ruger has all types of firearms covered. The company even makes a submachine gun, the little known 9mm Ruger MP9, which has sometimes been called an “improved Uzi”.

Bill Ruger became embroiled in controversy when he publicly advocated the banning of magazines that can accommodate more than ten rounds. In what became known in gun circles as the infamous “Ruger letter” to the House and Senate on March 30, 1989, Bill Ruger supported “a simple, complete, and unequivocal ban on large capacity magazines”, which caused an understandable uproar among outdoorsmen and gun enthusiasts. Ruger made additional comments in an interview with NBC’s Tom Brokaw, saying, “no honest man needs more than 10 rounds in any gun”, and “I never meant for simple civilians to have my 20 and 30 round magazines…”. It has long been Ruger’s policy to limit the sale of those types of magazines to military and law enforcement, although aftermarket equivalents freely abound. For instance, one cannot go to a gun show without seeing hundreds of high-capacity, aftermarket Ruger 10/22 magazines for sale.

Regardless of the controversy caused by the “Ruger letter”, the firearms that the Ruger company produces are accurate, dependable, and 100% American made. They are carried and used by hunters, competitive shooters, plinkers, and law enforcement alike. They are known as guns that can be depended on to work reliably, shot after shot.
