At 25 yards it …
At 25 yards it probably wouldn’t make a lot of difference, I don’t know, but at 50 yards it could. Regular firearms will rise or fall 1″ for every 15 deg. temp change, I’m not sure about airguns, good thing to check out. Keep your targets with the info on them and put them in your notebook. Get or make a target with a cross on it for scope shooting so you can keep your crosshairs aligned better. Here in Central Texas the weather is always changing so keeping a shooting record is a must. Rick, I ordered the …
Rick, I ordered the .25 gas-ram falcon hunter with Kodiak 30.7gr, H&N Diabolo 24.85gr and Beeman Silver Arrow 24.3gr pellets. I’ll post my “Yellow-Page Test” results here. My .22LR rimfire went through 1900 pages with a 40gr so I use that as the basis to compare other pellets for penetration power. I’m guessing Falcon would do 800 pages with a Kodiak, we’ll see in a week.

I’d like to test the .25 as well. I’ve got my next item on order.. I’ll see if they’ll send me a .25 after that. (pyramydair has been really good to me and this blog)

Rick,
Your review …
Rick,
Your review of the airguns in your videos are good but your understanding of ballistics is a bit lacking. Velocities should be tested at a temp of 70 deg. low humidity and an average pressure. As far as pellets go, every gun owner should do their own accuracy test with different pellets to determine which is best for their air gun. A good book on air gun testing for ballistics is “The Airgun Book” by John Walter as well as others dealing with airgun ballistics. Good shooting. Jim

Hey there Jim… …
Hey there Jim… Thanks for the comments. I’m really just a guy that likes to shoot in his back yard so I’m sure there is a TON that I don’t know. I do like learning about how to do things better. Some day I’d like to have my own indoor range where I can managed the environment, but until then.. my back yard will have to do.
Thanks again!

Just keep a …
Just keep a notebook with the temp when you did your vel tests and show wether the point of impact was higher or lower and do it at defferent temps and you should get a better understanding of what your airgun and ammo will do. Keep up the good work. Jim

Thanks for the tip. …
Thanks for the tip.. I’ve got a review to do this weekend so it should be interesting. Knowing your rifle will definitely help keep your shots on target. If weather can make a big difference on the POI then we need to be able to adjust for those conditions.
Thanks again.

Did you have the stock rifle with the spring? I was wondering if the trigger was as hard to pull as this one.

Does the gas ram …
Does the gas ram increase velocity or does it just make it more consistant.
January 1st, 2009 at 8:45 am
I believe it is …
I believe it is more about consistency than velocity. Although, if you happen to get a weaker spring, it would do both. Gamo is a good one that allows for an “acceptable range” of velocities. They may allow for as much as a 20% variance in their springs.

Good Review.
I really liked to see the Gas-ram falcon in .25 cal. That’s the one I’m buying. I know it does 600 to 780fps with different pellet weights but a good test would be nice, also to compare it with a Webley Patriot .25.
