hey, im 14 and looking to get my pa to get an air rifle so we can ask farmers whether we can hunt a few rabbits or pigeons for tea, i dunno.
thing is im wondering about prices on airguns and laws. if im correct my pa can get an air rifle and i can use it under his supervision. anyone know any good air rifles i might get as a beginners gun for shooting. Also if someone could suggest a desant beginners rifle that isn’t too expensive… perhaps a big joint christmas presant, thanks guys
oh yeah im in the UK, probably makes a difference.

You do not need a licence for an air rifle with a muzzle velocity of 12ft/lbs or under. You do need to be 18years of age to purchase one.

i think you need a licence even for an airgun over there?
check your laws, firstoff, second, it’s an excellent idea to get a gun and hunt on farmers land (though check your legislation, i dont think shooting birds with an airgun is legal, pidgeons may be an exception?)
anything that flicks lead at ~1000fps is more than suitable for killing small furries. i prefer .177because of the range, but it’s up to you.
gamo, crossman, daisy and berretta (chinese licencee thereof) all have springers for less than 300$, scoped and chrono’ing 1000 fps. go to a store or club and handle them, to get a feel for them as a big part of shooting is personal preference.
second hand is oftena good option, as quality air rifles, well looked after generally get better as they bed in.
your best bet for approaching access to land is to visit first WITHOUT a gun, talk to the farmers, explain what you want to do and why, get the lie of the land, know where the stock(animals) are etc. then make arrangements to come back and kill things.
goog luck, have fun, safe shootin’ etcetera

I’m looking at some very interesting prices on Gamo and other air rifles, and various real serious crossbows in my new Natchez catalog. They’re good folks, and if there is a way to ship directly to you, they will find it.

Good luck. Regards, Larry.

You can do a little "window" shopping on these sites.
My personal favorite, as the best value and all around good air rifle is the RWS 34

BSA makes some good air rifles for both the expert and beginner.
What you could do is go to a local club, they will be very helpful. Airgunners are generally very happy to introduce a newbie to the sport, and you might find a few great used** rifles up for sale.
**A well made "used" air rifle(spring piston) that has been cared for is actually(IMO) often times better than new, because good air rifles "wear in"
I like both the Weihrauch HW80 and the Air Arms TX200 but both rifles are on the expensive side(IMO)
