What’s the best type of air pistol for a woman?

I’m moving to my own apartment soon and I wanted to have something in the home for protection. My dad gave me a nice baseball bat, but I was thinking of getting an air pistol. What do you suggest? I have shot an actual gun (don’t remember what kind) before at a gun range, so I am familiar with guns.

Can someone explain air rifle shooters’ eye wear?

I noticed in the Olympics, many of the air pistol and rifle shooters wear some extremely elaborate optical headgear with lots of lenses and other things hanging from the frame. Can someone familiar with the sport explain how these things work to help the shooter?
Especially that “panel” that seems to cut off their peripheral vision… I wonder what that’s for.
