The Danger of Airsoft Pistol Hand Gun

November 21st, 2010

Masni Rizal Mansor asked:

While the airsoft pistol hand gun is a popular form of the airsoft gun, there are those who wish to make it decidedly unpopular by making them illegal. Now, there is not serious political movement looking to ban the airsoft pistol hand gun, although there are those critics out there who would wish to see the airsoft pistol hand gun wiped off the map – and wiped off the map in a rather swift fashion.

It is not as if this is without precedent. In the 1990s, there was a movement to ban the sale of toy guns in certain states. It is no surprise that the airsoft pistol gun would come under the radar of those looking to eliminate replica guns from the realm of legality.

The Motivations of the Anti-Airsoft Gun Movement

The motivations are not always clear, but the most common complaint is that these types of guns will de-emphasize the violence associated with weapons and end up encouraging violent behavior. This is, of course, a theory and as a theory is not viable for changing the law on its on face value. This argument will never work because it lacks any empirical evidence supporting the fact that the airsoft pistol hand gun does not psychologically gear someone towards violent behavior.

The other argument is that people will use the airsoft handgun pistol as a weapon for use in the commission of a crime. This is a very valid concern, but not one that will provide the basis for banning the guns. It does provide the basis for the identifying orange muzzle that federal law requires, a reasonable request that, ironically, has its critics as well. The orange muzzle does an adequate job, if not perfect job in distinguishing a replica gun, so this law works well.

As things stand now, the airsoft pistol hand gun is safe and does not look like it will be banned anytime soon. There will always be those people that will try and impose an ideology on others even when the ideology is not based in any fact. Never let the truths get in the way of a motivating factor. As things are now, one will not have to surrender one’s airsoft pistol hand gun, so do not get angry or upset if one brings up the subject, because it is not based on facts.

Best Airsoft Pistols and Pistol Air Soft

November 17th, 2010

Sarah Porter asked:

Best Airsoft Pistols and Pistol Air Soft

Entering the airsoft gun hobby can be rewarding but is not always easy because of the variety of options you can choose from. Not only do you have to worry about choosing airsoft rifles that are well manufactured but you also need to consider which specific types of guns you want to work with. Maybe you already know whether you want airsoft pistols, http://www.softairpro.com/airsoft-pistols/ or machine guns but learning a bit more about your choices will ensure that you choose the best airsoft guns for your needs and your experience level.

Airsoft Pistol, Shotguns & Handguns, http://www.softairpro.com/

With airsoftguns, you’ll also find some other options. Handguns, such as airsoft pistols, are frequently purchased by beginners because they are a good choice for learning how to properly and accurately handle and fire one of these weapons. They can also be good sidearm weapons meaning they can serve as a backup if you’re playing a match and run out of ammunition. Most of the shot guns are not going to be used in matches but there are some that are capable of firing off multiple rounds quickly but overall these would be better choices for target practice. Most airsoft enthusiasts would suggest pistols over both shotguns and revolvers that rarely perform as well.

Air Soft Rifle Options

Two types of rifles are commonly available in the airsoft arena. Assault rifles are one choice. These are one of the most popular types of guns in the airsoft family, possibly because people love the idea of shooting off an M-16. These weapons are capable of doing auto fire that makes it an ideal choice for a few airsoft matches. Another option is a sniper rifle. These can be great choices if you’re already part of a team and that team wants a competitive advantage. Not everyone enjoys using a sniper rifle but it can make a great secondary choice.

Air soft Pistol, Carbines and SMGs, http://www.softairpro.com/airsoft-guns/

The carbine is an interest choice because it’s basically just a smaller version of standard airsoft rifles, except that it uses the same ammunition as a submachine gun (SMG). Among airsoft players, the SMGs seem to have some advantages. They may not pack the biggest payload or the most power but they can be great choices because they are easy to handle and don’t hamper your movements the way larger automatic weapons, such as the machine gun, might.

Deciding on the Right Weapon

Despite all of the pros and cons, the only person who can really determine the best airsoft guns is you. And that decision should be based on many factors, including your experience level and your intended purpose with the weapon. In some cases, the type of weapon may not matter as much as whether or not you’re choosing an automatic or semi-automatic variety. At the end of the day, you have to make the decision about the best airsoft guns for your needs and that requires some research and careful consideration. After all, you don’t want to go home with airsoft pistols only to find out you’d have been better off with an M-16.

Airsoft Hop-up

August 1st, 2010

Justin Kander asked:

Every airsoft player should know about hop-up, and most players do. However, if you do not know, here is a simple definition. Hop-up is basically the trajectory of an airsoft pellet, and when an airsoft gun has adjustable hop-up, that means you can adjust the trajectory. Hop-up is also the theory of backspin, in which spin, usually up-spin, is placed on the pellet as it grinds along the top of the inside of the barrel. So, the friction creates the spin, and then that spin offsets things such as gravity and air resistance, allowing the BB to travel further. However, changing the hop-up to increase accuracy only increases the vertical accuracy, but not the horizontal accuracy.

Hop-up devices are used on airsoft devices to apply more backspin to pellets. As stated, the backspin allows pellets to fly farther and fall less. Since the pellets are light and wind ultimately affects the trajectory, pellets can still fly off to the left or right. Hop-up can be adjusted to fit the weight of the BB, or just to do anything the user wishes.

A main principle that relates to hop-up is Bernoulli’s Principle. Bernoulli’s Principle states that “in an ideal fluid (includes air), with no work being performed on the fluid, an increase in velocity occurs simultaneously with decrease in pressure or a change in the fluid’s gravitational potential energy.” How does this apply to airsoft? Well, if you read the definition, pressure is inversely proportional to velocity, in that lower pressure equals higher velocity. A spinless pellet will have equal pressure all around it, so the only thing determining its distance is the FPS. The next part is quite complicated, but simply, backspin creates a difference in pressure on opposite sides of the BB, and this difference makes the pellet go further. Another interesting thing is the Magnus effect. Pellets have thin layers of non-moving air on top of them, and when spin is applied, the air pushes off the pellet at a downward angle, and by Newton’s law, then pushes the pellet up, giving it lift. In a non-spinning ball, the air would all go off at the same angle, so there would be no difference in trajectory due to that.

As you can see, by adding spin to pellets, the accuracy of an airsoft gun can be greatly increased. That is why it is wise to purchase an airsoft gun with an adjustable hop-up, so you have greater control over where your pellets end up. Knowing how things function (in this case, hop-up) can give you greater confidence, since you understand how the hop-up device and hop-up in general works. Of course, you can also impress people with your intelligence, which is always an added bonus of knowledge.

Airsoft Guns, Rifles and Pistols

June 1st, 2010

Sarah Porter asked:

With the holidays around the corner and birthdays coming up every year, many young boys and even some girls are likely going to have Airsoftguns on their wish list. However, every year many parents refuse to even consider their child’s wish to have Air soft rifles or similar items under the tree or wrapped up on the gift table. The question is why are some parents so against these weapons and how can their negative perceptions be changed.

Danger Factor

One of the most commonly cited reasons why parents refuse to buy their children an Airsoft gun is the potential danger. Parents point out that injuries can occur from the high-powered, fast-moving pellets or BBs. The child can be injured or someone nearby can be injured. No parents want to pay unnecessary medical bills but is this a good reason not to allow your child to have one of these items?

The good news is that these weapons can be a great way to train young people about proper safety. Goggles and other types of ****** protection are available and should always be worn by minors and adults who are using them. Even people who are watching or using the products along with the child should be encouraged to wear protection as well because they are often at greater risk than the shooter.

Children who receive their first pistols should also be taught from day one never to have the muzzle pointed towards themselves, because this could result in serious injury if the release is triggered. By teaching children from an early age about proper safety and by modeling safe behavior, the risk of danger is minimal.

Mess Worries

Besides the concerns about possible injuries, many parents also worry about the mess that can be a result of the Airsoft Rifles, especially when they are used in the home or backyard. BBs can cover the floor and the ground. They can be a risk for injuries and can be dangerous to pets or other wildlife in the area, too. A good way to prevent this possibility is to invest in pop-up targets. These targets collect the spend ammunition so the shooter can reuse them in the weapon and so they are not strewn all over the place. Plus, these targets are a great way to reduce the need for purchasing extra ammo for them.

Gun Worries

Finally, some parents are genuinely worried that these could inspire their children to become interested in trying out real and more dangerous weapons. This type of experimenting could do more than cause a bruise like a BB might; it could result in a child’s death or another person’s serious injury. However, the best way to prevent this type of experimentation is by quelling the child’s curiosity through the use of safer alternatives, like the softair firearms, and by training your child about proper weapon handling. Even though there is a big difference between these fun firearms and real guns, the safety measures you instill in your child won’t be different.

I’m 11 and I’ve never had a BB or an Airsoft gun. I think I’m going to get one or Christmas. My question is since this would be my first Airsoft gun, what brand should I get and what type of gun should I get??
I was looking at getting the “Air Soft Remington Wingmaster Shotgun “..
Is that a good choice or should I get something else??
Accually, it’s only $30. And the reviews are all 5-4 stars, and ther is at least 20 reviews…
